Altaf Bukhari inaugurates job fair at Kashmir Haat | KNO

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 04 (KNO) : Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today inaugurated a daylong job fair under National Career program (NCP) here at Kashmir Haat. Organized under the aegis of Union Ministry of Labor and Employment and Department of Labor and Employment Government of J&K, the Minister said the main purpose of the fair is to create a platform for employers and prospective job seekers besides providing career counselling to the unemployed youth of Srinagar. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Director School Education Kashmir G N Itoo, Joint Director Employment, Akramullah Tak were present on the occasion. Altaf Bukhari appreciating the initiative of Labor and Employment Department said that organizing such fairs is a “concrete step to provide prospective job seekers a chance to find suitable jobs.” He laid stress on entrepreneurship and self help groups saying that there are many business ideas that can be given shape and would turn out to be successful business ventures. The Minister said people earn money on the commission basis by simply launching web portals therein providing home deliveries of various products. He said we are currently facing a bigger challenge of unemployment in the state and government alone cannot overcome it, adding it cannot provide employment to all unemployed in the state. He said the youth have to come forward and take responsibility by giving wings to their business ideas and turn them into reality. Bukhari made public that the education department will be advertising 2500 posts through Service Selection Board (SSB) before March 2018. The Minister directed Labor and Employment department to come up with a database for online registration to streamline recommendation of unemployed youth to various organizations and impart training to them for screening test against vacancies in various government departments. He assured the unemployed educated youth that their concern would be taken into consideration in the next fair that will be organized three months later. The companies that participated in the fair included State Bank of India, Life Insurance Corporation, Khadi and Village Board Industries, Rooman Technologies, NSDC Udaan, and besides scores of other companies. The fair was attended by hundreds of job aspirants of the state who on the occasion registered themselves with various companies for various jobs.(KNO)
